I love covering bridal preparations - they're one of my favourite times of the day, it's such a privilege to see what happens before the ceremony, all the excitement and nerves building before they say 'I do'. The Olde Rectory houses one of the most beautiful bridal suites I've seen - the bed was so high you'd need a ladder to get into it and there was a dressing room off the bedroom, all with gorgeous gold thread shutters. What struck me though, was just how absolutely lovely Amy's bridesmaids were - so supportive and caring (apparently they made Amy hot chocolate and ran her a bath the evening before). This was made even better when Amy's fourth bridesmaid, heavily pregnant, whose baby was due just days before the wedding, arrived unexpectedly, dressed in blue that matched the other bridesmaids and walked down the aisle with her. Such a perfect moment and a few tears...! Amy and Dave were married at St John the Baptist Church in Whitbourne. It is a truly beautiful church and all of a minutes walk from the cottages that hosted the reception. As the two are on a little lane that goes nowhere, it had a very private feel - as though it was their own little wedding village! There was a real country fete feel to the day and it was incredibly English. The tables were cricket related and there was lovely afternoon tea on the lawn, accompanied by a variety of lawn games - a coconut shy, croquette and the like. I think Amy looked very much the English rose in her elegant dress and with the intricate plaited hair-do (I love seeing them come together!). Dave had not one, but two best men, just so that there was a thorough covering of his entire life and there were many laughs - as you can see from the photos, there was a real spirit of laughter and fun throughout the whole day, which is just as it should be!
