Top 3 Beautiful Registry Offices Hertfordshire

March 17, 2022 | Advice

When looking for a ceremony venue for your wedding, registry offices get a bad rap. Having been a Hertfordshire wedding photographer for 11 years, I've worked at pretty much every Hertfordshire registry office and I've got the inside scoop on which ones are the prettiest.

I'm going to breakdown the local Hertfordshire registry offices that make for great photos and are low on the office building vibes.

St Albans Registry Office Wedding

St Albans Register Office, The Gatehouse, 1 Victoria Square, St Albans, AL1 3TF

I'm bias in favour of St Albans Registry Office because I live here and work here all the time. But, honestly, it's a great registry office. There's parking, you're just opposite the train station and it's low on the municipal building vibes.

St Albans Registry Office seats 60 guests. It has lovely big windows, nice chairs and a garden that's more than big enough for group and couple portraits. This one is actually pretty rare for a registry office, so, it's definitely worth thinking about. If you're planning on having a photographer for just your ceremony, or if your venue doesn't have an outdoor space, this is a big reason to choose St Albans Registry Office for your wedding ceremony.

If you'd like some incredibly pointless St Albans Registry Office trivia, then, I'm full of it. The big black doors are the doors in the opening to Porridge. The Gatehouse used to be a prison and the cannon in the front hints at its history.

After your ceremony at St Albans Registry Office, there are a lot of great St Albans wedding reception venues within easy reach.

If you're looking for a more traditional wedding venue, St Michael's Manor, St Albans Museum & Gallery and Sopwell House are gorgeous.

If you're looking for something more casual or untraditional, The Loft, Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, The White Lion and Kingsbury Barn.

Cheshunt Registry Office Wedding

Cheshunt Register Office, Bishops College, Churchgate, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, EN8 9XH

The Cheshunt Register Office is a gorgeous and unusual building. It seats 57 guests and there's a big carpark.

One of the most unique things about the Cheshunt Registry office is the beautiful, octagonal ceremony room. It's lined with big church style windows and flooded with natural light. Oh and there are super high, wood panelled ceilings and pink walls.

There's a very photogenic doorway and staircase, perfect for a classic confetti photo.

Speaking of wedding photo options at Cheshunt Registry office, it's just a few minutes from a park. This park has a lake, bridge and enough green to take some great group and couple photos.

Hertford Registry Office Wedding

Hertford Register Office, County Hall, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8DE

Hertford Register Office seats 70 guests and has a huge carpark. But, where it really shines it the gardens and outdoor space for photos.

Inside, Hertford Registry Office has huge windows flooding the room with natural light and it's a wide room so your guests get a good view. But, the outdoor space is the real reason you'd choose to get married here!

There is a ton of outdoor space here and it's round the corner from the registry office, so, you can get away from whoever is going in next. There's a courtyard garden, with blossom trees and a nice lawn - great for group photos. And then there are these lovely arches and columns, great for couple shots or group shots too.

I was blown away by the photo options here when I first visited. If you're heading to a venue without outdoor space or just having a photographer for your ceremony, this is a great choice to get some genuinely beautiful spots for couple and group portraits without having to leave the registry office site.

So, there you have it, my top 3 most beautiful registry offices in Hertfordshire. These are all great options for a mix of great ceremony photos and great posed photos after.
