I've been rather lucky with my bookings this year - all of the February weddings I covered defied the miserable, drizzly trend and were on crisp, bright days, albeit with icy, bracing winds! When I arrived in Marie's room, it was a very calm room I met, just Marie, her bridesmaid and hair stylist. Marie had built in a lot of time to relax before putting her dress on, which I would strongly recommend. Speaking of her dress, it was a beautiful, demure number, with long-sleeves (oh, how I love a long-sleeved wedding dress) and some very red shoes just peeking out to add a splash of colour. As a vegetarian, I don't often get excited about wedding food (not that it's not yummy!) but, the food, oh, the food! The starter was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten - I actually can't remember exactly what it was now, but, it was a deliciously sweet cheese parcel with cranberry relish. Oh, so perfect! Marie and Saj didn't have a dancing portion of their evening, so, the focus of the reception was on the gorgeous meal, with speeches scattered between courses. I'd like to give a special shout out to Marie's bridesmaid, who made a speech that involved a singalong to The Beatles, who doesn't love a singalong?!
