I had been long looking forward to Adam and Mel's wedding. For starters, when I first met them for a drink in Harpenden, I fell in love with them a bit because they just seemed so completely in love and Mel reminded me so very much of a friend of mine which meant I instantly warmed to her. Then there was the fact that they would be getting married in Harpenden House Hotel, which is pretty special to me. This was the venue that my parents held their wedding reception and also where my godparents had their wedding, for which I was a bridesmaid in a very itchy dress. It was very strange having occasional visions of sitting on the floor outside the front door in that white and turquoise dress. The day was absolutely beautiful - Mel looked simply stunning and her dress was just gorgeous. I loved their vibrant flowers and her blue shoes and the table names - the table names were all song names, which, I took as a little challenge to recall the artist (obviously I won this little game in my head). On the topic of music, the music was just fantastic - their first dance song was To The End by Blur and then the hits just kept coming and I pretty much wanted to stay all night bopping away in the corner. All weddings are happy occasions, but, as you can see from the pictures, there was such a sense of vitality and fun at this wedding - everywhere I looked were smiling faces, perhaps because Mel has such a gorgeous, infectious smile herself?! Oh and there were so many heart-warming moments too! Adam had written a poem for Mel which he read at the beginning of the ceremony and I admit I had to force myself not to listen because I aim to be inconspicuous and if I was sobbing at the front of the room I might draw a bit too much attention...!
